Note: This information is no longer current. Since September 17, 2022, there are no longer any corona rules for travelers to the Netherlands. You can travel to the Netherlands without a long-distance relationship statement, proof of vaccination, proof of recovery or negative test result. Starting today (July 27, 2020). foreign partners who have a relationship with a Dutch national, come back to our country for a consecutive period of no more than 90 days. The entry ban imposed in connection with corona no longer applies to this group.
Justice Minister Ferd Grapperhaus has for humanitarian reasons the rules relaxed. Due to the entry ban, lovers could not meet for a long time.
The borders in the Netherlands will still remain closed to people from outside Europe who are not making an essential journey. Partners of Dutch people are now allowed to travel to the Netherlands, but there must be a long-term relationship.
Rules for foreign partners
Partners coming to the Netherlands must sign a handwritten statement in which they declare, under penalty of perjury, that they have been in a relationship for at least three months and have met each other regularly. The foreign partner must also have a return ticket.
Medical travel insurance
Furthermore, foreign partners must meet the existing conditions to be able to visit the Netherlands. These apply to both visa requirede- (Schengen short stay visa) as visa-exempt foreigners. For example, one must be able to demonstrate that he or she is in possession of a medical travel insurance with repatriation cover.
As the businesses comes from a country with a code orange, then an urgent advice for home quarantine for fourteen days applies. All supporting documents, declarations and any guarantees must be presented to the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee upon arrival at Schiphol.
