Visa required for Schengen countries
Do you come from one of the above countries and do you want to come to the Netherlands for a maximum of 90 days? Then you need a Schengen visa for a short stay. The visa allows you to travel freely in the Netherlands and other Schengen countries within a period of 180 days.
What is a short stay visa / Schengen visa?
The short stay visa is one Schengen visa. This allows you to stay in the Schengen area for a maximum of 90 days (within a period of 180 days). You get a visa for a certain period. It can also be shorter than 90 days. As long as your visa is valid, you can travel freely between the 26 Schengen countries.
Do you want to enter and leave the Schengen zone several times within these 180 days? Then you must choose the option 'multiple entry' when applying for a visa.
Visit multiple Schengen countries
Do you want to visit several Schengen countries? Then you apply for the visa in the country of your main destination. Is that goal the same for several countries, for example a holiday? Then apply for the visa in the country where you want to spend the most time.
Do you stay for the same length of time in each Schengen country? Then you apply for the visa at the first Schengen country you visit.
Apply for a Schengen visa
A visa application for the Netherlands can be submitted at the earliest 6 months and no later than 15 calendar days before the intended travel date.
Remember that one too Schengen travel insurance is mandatory.
