Visa-free travel to the Caribbean parts of the Kingdom (Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, Saba, Sint Eustatius and Sint Maarten)
If you travel to Aruba, Curaçao or the other Caribbean parts of the Kingdom, you must meet certain conditions. Even if you do not need a visa, for example because you are Dutch. For example, you are not allowed to stay there indefinitely and you must have enough money.
Maximum length of stay
Can you travel to the Caribbean parts of the Kingdom without a visa? Then you can stay there for a maximum of 90 days per 180 days.
Do you have the Dutch or American nationality? Then you may stay in the Caribbean parts of the Kingdom for a longer consecutive period: a maximum of 180 days per 365 days.
Do you have the nationality of another Schengen country? Then you may stay in Aruba for a maximum of 180 days per 365 days. You may stay for a maximum of 90 days per 180 days in the other Caribbean parts of the Kingdom.
If you want to stay longer, you need a residence permit.
Entry requirements
If you travel to the Caribbean parts of the Kingdom, these conditions apply:
- Your passport cannot be older than 10 years.
- Your passport is valid for the entire duration of your visit.
- You have proof that you can return or travel to another country. This is, for example, a passport, residence permit or visa.
- You can demonstrate the reason for your visit. For example with a hotel booking or an invitation from family or friends.
- You have enough money to pay for your stay and other expenses.
- You have valid health insurance or travel insurance for medical expenses. The minimum cover is 15.000 US dollars or 30.000 Euros. Your insurance covers hospital treatment, emergency treatment and repatriation (also in the event of death).
- You do not pose a threat to public order, public health, national security or international relations.
Please note: even if you meet these conditions, the local authorities can sometimes decide not to admit you or for a shorter period than the maximum length of stay.
No visa is required for these nationalities
You do not need a visa if you have the nationality of one of the following countries:
