The Dutch embassy is a diplomatic representation of the Netherlands in another country. The Dutch embassy is usually located in the city where the government of the host country is also located. Sometimes, in addition to an embassy, the Netherlands also has one or more consulates in the host country. Embassies and consulates are referred to as 'diplomatic posts'.
The Dutch embassy is responsible for communication and negotiations between our country and the host country, but also for cultural exchange. In addition, the embassy acts as a point of contact for Dutch citizens who reside temporarily or permanently in the host country. The embassy is headed by an ambassador.
The Kingdom (the Netherlands, Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten) has approximately 140 diplomatic posts worldwide.
