Note: This information is no longer current. Since September 17, 2022, there are no longer any corona rules for travelers to the Netherlands. You can travel to the Netherlands without a long-distance relationship statement, proof of vaccination, proof of recovery or negative test result. If you are subject to a visa requirement, you must of course first apply for a Schengen visa.
Those who want to travel to the Netherlands from abroad and are not an EU citizen will have to deal with strict entry conditions that have been introduced to combat the corona pandemic. For example, there is a ban on non-essential travel for travelers who are not on the list of safe countries.
For travelers who live in a country that is on the list of safe countries, the visa requirement remains dependent on nationality. This means that if someone lives in a country for which the entry restriction has been lifted, but has the nationality of a country for which a visa is required, he or she must apply for a Schengen visa in the country of residence at the consulate of the country of destination.
The rules for applying for a short stay visa don't change. However, the consulates and external service providers of the EU countries have adapted some practical aspects of the procedure, for example in terms of access management, hygiene, payment method, etc. Visa applicants are advised to check the information on the relevant websites.
