Those who want to travel to Europe from 2024 will have to deal with new entry rules and systems: ETIAS and EES. Both systems have been devised to offer Europe and travelers more security. But what are the main differences between ETIAS and EES?
Schengen visa: Visa applications are going digital
Yesterday, an agreement in principle was reached between the EU Member States and the European Parliament on the digitization of Schengen visas (Short Stay Visa). In the future, a Schengen visa can be applied for and issued online.
Frontex warns: Increase of unofficial ETIAS websites
There is an increase in unofficial ETIAS websites, beware of possible abuse, Frontex warns. Frontex, is the European Border and Coast Guard Agency created to assist EU Member States and Schengen Associated Countries in protecting the external borders of the EU's area of free movement.
Introduction of ETIAS postponed again
The roll-out of the ETIAS system in Europe has been postponed to 2024. This means that the system will only be introduced in 2024 instead of November 2023, as originally planned. Etias is an electronic travel authorization for visitors to Europe who do not require a visa, with the aim of better monitoring who enters and leaves Europe.
What is the difference between Schengen and the EU?
The EU is a political and economic union of 27 European countries that cooperate in areas such as trade, economy and justice. The Schengen zone is a separate part of the EU where internal border controls between participating countries have been lifted, meaning travelers can travel within the zone without passport control.
Without passport control to Croatia
Anyone traveling to Croatia from 1 January will no longer have to go through passport control. You can now also pay with euros. Croatia has joined the Schengen zone, making it the 27th country.
