Anyone wishing to travel to the Netherlands or transfer at an airport may need a Schengen visa.

Facilitating Schengen Visa
With a facilitating Schengen visa, you can stay in the Netherlands and other countries in the Schengen area for a maximum of 90 days per 180 days . You can only apply for this visa if you are a relative of someone with the nationality of a country in the EU, the EEA, or Switzerland.

A long-stay visa is also known as a provisional residence permit (MVV). With this visa, you can stay in the Netherlands for longer than 90 days.

You may need an entry visa if you are abroad and your residence permit for the Netherlands is lost, stolen, or has expired. With this visa, you can travel back to the Netherlands.

Caribbean visa
With a Caribbean visa, you can visit the Caribbean parts of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. These are Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, Saba, Sint Eustatius, and Sint Maarten. You cannot travel to the Netherlands with a Caribbean visa.
There are 2 types of Caribbean visa:
- Caribbean short stay visa. This allows you to stay for a maximum of 90 days.
- Caribbean long stay visa. This allows you to stay longer than 90 days.

ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System)
As of November 2023, ETIAS will be introduced in the Schengen area . ETIAS stands for European Travel Information and Authorisation System and will apply to travelers who do not require a visa. ETIAS is not a visa but a travel authorization that must be applied for online in advance by the traveler.
