President Trump wants to lift the travel ban for travelers from the United States before he resigns Schengen zone, the United Kingdom and Brazil. The White House announced this on Monday evening.
From January 26, travelers from the Schengen area, to which the Netherlands also belongs, could travel to the United States again. However, passengers arriving in the US must be able to provide a negative Covid-19 test.
The measure was taken last year because of the coronavirus outbreak. An entry ban will continue to apply to travelers from China and Iran because those countries do not provide sufficient information about the spread of the virus within their borders.
The travel ban may be reintroduced after Joe Biden is appointed as president. The new president is not in favor of lifting the travel ban and can reverse Trump's measure.
