Travel insurance for a foreigner in the Netherlands
You can still take out travel insurance for a foreigner who is already in the Netherlands and that is important. Both visa-required and non-visa-required foreigners who come to the Netherlands must be able to demonstrate that they are insured for urgent medical expenses and repatriation (returning to the country of origin). It is itself a condition for obtaining a Schengen visa. Visa-free foreign travelers must also be able to prove that they are insured against unexpected medical expenses, but you may have forgotten to take out insurance for your foreign guest.
Medical costs in the Netherlands are high
Travel insurance for foreigners with cover for medical costs is necessary because medical costs in the Netherlands are high. A few days in the hospital can easily cost you € 2.400. With the special travel insurance, a foreigner who is temporarily in the Netherlands is well insured for unexpected emergency medical assistance, such as a visit to a doctor, ambulance transport, hospital costs and medicines.

There is no medical acceptance or age restriction for this travel insurance. Your foreign guest is even insured for € 500.000 against medical costs.
How long is the travel insurance valid?
You can take out travel insurance for a foreigner for a maximum of six months. If the foreigner is 80 or older, the insurance is valid for a maximum of three months. Does the insurance expire? You cannot renew the insurance, but you can take out a new one.

The travel insurance for foreigners applies in all countries that fall under the Schengen area, namely: Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Poland,
Portugal, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain, Czech Republic, Iceland, Sweden, Switzerland. And also in the following countries: Bulgaria, Cyprus, Ireland, Croatia, Romania, United Kingdom.
Please note: The insurance does not apply in your country of origin, the overseas territories of European countries, such as Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao.
