Cubans traveling with Air France from Cuba to Europe must request a safe-pass before departure!
Cubans with a Schengen visa those wanting to travel to the Netherlands now usually have to fly via Paris because Air France is currently one of the few airlines connecting Cuba to Europe. It is then mandatory for the Cuban traveler to have a safe pass issued by the French authorities.
The safe pass is a requirement Schengen area to be allowed to enter and to travel to The Netherlands.
How to obtain the safe pass?
Cubans must apply for a safe pass in person at the French embassy in Cuba, which forwards it to the French authorities. The application must consist of a:
- Explanation with the main reasons.
- Copy of the applicant's passport.
- Document from the country of final destination stating permission to enter the territory (Schengen visa).
If the request is made by a diplomatic service or official passport holder, he/she must provide a statement from the embassy that issued the visa.

Request the safe pass well in advance. Preferably 4 weeks before departure. The processing time of an application takes at least 10 days.
