Negotiators of the European Parliament and the European Council have agreed on additional guarantees for access to the various systems and databases for, among other things, issuing and checking Schengen visas.

French President Emmanuel Macron wants to adjust free travel in the Schengen zone and he will tighten controls at the French borders considerably.
Schengen entry ban gradually lifted as of 1 July
The European Commission has asked the Schengen member states to start admitting third-country nationals again from 1 July. This will then concern countries outside Europe where the epidemiological situation is comparable to the countries in Europe or countries where the corona outbreak is under control.
'EU wants to open borders for countries outside Europe from 1 July'
From 1 July, the European Commission wants to start opening borders to countries outside the EU in a controlled manner. The European Council, in which the member states are represented, must draw up a list of countries from which travelers can travel to the EU from that moment on.
The Netherlands extends entry ban for persons from outside Europe
The travel restrictions for the Netherlands due to the corona crisis have been extended up to and including 15 June 2020. This concerns the restriction on all non-essential travel by persons from third countries to Europe (all EU Member States, all Schengen members and the UK), with the aim to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
EU entry ban extended
From 19 March 2020, the entry conditions for people who want to travel to the Netherlands have been tightened. The EU proposal regarding an entry ban for non-essential travel has been extended until 15 May 2020.
