Costs of the application Short Stay Visa type C. (Schengen visa)
If a friend, partner or family member from outside Europe wants to come to the Netherlands for a maximum of 90 days, a visa is usually required. Whether your guest needs a visa depends on his/her nationality. You can travel to the Schengen countries with a short-stay visa (Schengen visa). There are costs associated with applying for a Schengen visa, these costs are called: fees.
You apply for a visa at the Dutch representation in the guest's own country (country of origin). Or in the country where the person lives with a valid residence permit (country of residence). A foreign national cannot submit the visa application earlier than 6 months before he/she wants to travel to the Netherlands.
Sometimes the visa application has to be submitted to an external agency: the external service provider (EDV). This agency (VFS Global) will receive the application and send it to the Dutch representation for processing. In this case, in addition to the costs for the visa application, you almost always pay an additional amount to the external service provider.
fees
Applying for a short-stay Schengen visa for the Netherlands costs money. That's officially called: fees. An external service provider also charges costs. The fee must usually be paid in the equivalent of the local currency.
