The Dutch government has decided to cancel the European entry ban for the Netherlands as of September 17, 2022.
This is because the government no longer considers the EU entry ban for the Netherlands to be proportionate given the epidemiological situation in our country. In addition, the European Commission plans to publish a proposal to revise the entry rules in autumn 2022.
This means that from September 17, 2022, all travelers from countries outside the European Union or the Schengen zone can re-enter the Netherlands without entry restrictions due to COVID-19 or other COVID-19 requirements. For foreign travelers requiring a visa, they must be in possession of a valid Schengen visa and a medical travel insurance.
Free travel to the Netherlands
As of September 17, 2022, there are no entry rules for people who:
- live in an EU/Schengen country;
- or live in a country that complies with EU entry rules.
This also applies if they travel to the Netherlands from a country outside the EU/Schengen, these travellers:
- do not need a health certificate if they fly to the Netherlands;
- do not have to be tested;
- do not have to be quarantined after arrival in the Netherlands.
